Maple Tutorials

Often it is convenient to combine HTML pages and Java applets with a computer algebra system (CAS) worksheet. The CAS we will use in this workshop is Maple.

If you do not have any familiarity with Maple, you should work through a basic tutorial. Use

Maple Tutorial

in the Multivariable Calculus section of the Duke Connected Curriculum Project (CCP). This will cover the basics through plotting graphs and calculating derivatives and integrals.

Each section of CCP has its own tutorial. The initial eight parts of these are the same, but the later parts discuss commands special to the particular area. Here are links to some of these other tutorials with an indication of the special sections.

The Maple Help screens are very good. In particular, entering ? followed by a command (e.g., ? plot) gives a description of the syntax followed by examples of code. The examples can be copied, pasted in your worksheet, and altered to suit your purposes.
