Teacher Notes (Scatterplots)

Objective: The student will be able to graph a set of data points and fit a line to the scatter plot.

Prerequisite: Students should be familiar with graphing points on a coordinate plane.

NCTM Standard: Display a scatter plot and the line of best fit
AP Statistics Standard: Analyze patterns in scatterplots

Time: 45 minutes

1. The picture changes such that the y-axis becomes horizontal and the x-axis becomes vertical. Those students who know inverse functions should recognize an inverse picture.
