With Bezout

(to the tune of "At the Zoo" by Simon and Garfunkel)

Someone told me there’s a theorem of Bezout
I do believe it, I do believe it’s true
It’s an algebraic statement
About two curves in P2
Intersection multiplicities construed
And you can count the crossings
Multiply the curves’ degrees
You’ll never find a difference 'tween the two…

Something tells me it’s all happening with Bezout
I do believe it, I do believe it’s true

Tangent spaces stand for honesty
Pre-sheaves are insincere
And birational maps are kindly but they’re dumb
Elliptic curves are skeptical of changes in their coord’nates
I heard that Hartshorne goes quite well with rum…

Hilbert had no misconceptions:
Finite maps preserve dimension
Graphers plot the affine piece
While Grothendieck is left in peace
What a Grassmann…ian. You got to come and see
