Teacher training & program evaluation

Teacher training and program evaluation
Jack Bookman

Jack Bookman, Associate Professor of the Practice of Mathematics and Education, has been on the faculty at Duke University since 1982 and has a joint appointment in the Mathematics Department and the Program in Education. His responsibilities involve teaching first year mathematics courses, coordinating a program for teaching our mathematics graduate students to teach, preparing pre-service secondary mathematics teachers, as well conducting research in mathematics education.

One of the ways in which Duke's graduate program differs from most other programs is the thorough, in depth support and training of graduates students for their role as teachers - both while they are graduates students here at Duke and in their future careers. An essential part of this training is the seminar for first year graduate students that, since 1987, has been led by Jack Bookman. He will be serving as part of the evaluation team for the RTG grant.
